- A "Next" tile is shown at the bottom — this is what you will place - Click or tap any empty cell on the grid to place the tile - If placed next to tiles of the same value, they merge and double - Chain reactions trigger when a merged tile matches new neighbors - Hover over cells to see if a merge will happen (highlighted cells) - The grid adapts to screen orientation (5x7 portrait, 7x5 landscape) - Game ends when the board is full with no merges possible - Reach 2048 to win!
2048 Tap Merge puts a strategic twist on the classic 2048 formula by replacing sliding with deliberate tile placement. Instead of swiping the entire board, you choose exactly where to place each numbered tile on the grid. When adjacent tiles share the same value, they merge together in satisfying chain reactions — place wisely and watch cascading combos send your score through the roof. The game presents a grid that adapts to your screen orientation — 5 columns by 7 rows in portrait, or 7 columns by 5 rows in landscape. Each turn, you receive a tile (usually 2, 4, or 8) shown in the "Next" preview. Click or tap any empty cell on the grid to place it. If the placed tile touches one or more neighbors with the same value, they all merge into a single tile with a doubled value. Multiple adjacent matches merge simultaneously, and the resulting tile can trigger further chain reactions if it now matches new neighbors. Chain reactions are the heart of 2048 Tap Merge.
